“baseball is back baby” and other notes
Due to illness and extreme busy-ness I have been pretty lax in blogging. My beautiful wife Jessica is doing a great job and each time I read her posts I laugh to myself and count it as one of the many reasons I asked her to marry me, and so very thankful she said “YES!” before I even made it through the first sentence (and for the record, the first sentence was not, “Will you…”).
The title of this post is my best George Costanza. I’ve got mlb.tv loaded and have watched two of the Yankee games thus far (yes, I did miss the Moose game due to church activities). My reaction is good so far, and I am thrilled that the Yanks have stuck with generation Trey (Phil, IPK, and Joba). I am also a firm believer of Duncan starting at first with Giambi/Matsui sharing the DH and fielding roles. Maybe Jason will prove me wrong. His fielding has looked pretty sharp lately (well, 3 games) and it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve eaten a good portion of crow.
I wanted to offer a shout-out to a Yankees baseball blog named, riveraveblues.com. I was looking hard during spring training to find a blog out there that had some good writing talent and wasn’t too much in pointing the fingers on how great they are and how many grand predictions they can make, and a forum for their fantasy baseball…well, that list can go on and on. Those folks at River Ave Blues have done that. Also, the kind folks at nomaas.org always have a special place in every Yankee fan’s heart.
I’m very encouraged by the great folks I’ve been working with. Each one is firmly committed and they really extend themselves for the sake of the gospel *and* unreached peoples. I am greatly humbled that I can be apart of their team in some way.
