On the homestead

I’m feeling very domestic, now that we’re settling into the family as a foursome routine a bit. So far this week, I have done the following not-so-typical for me things that usually get pre-empted by considerably less fun work stuff:

-actually had dinner ready for Mike when he got home from a day at work! Ok, except I forgot to turn the rice cooker on. Thankfully Mike noticed that “hey babe there’s a lot of water in here with this rice…and it’s cold…is that what you meant to do?” No. Not exactly. But I’ll get there.

-made a cake. from scratch. just because Mike likes that kind (red velvet). I am known to do a little baking on occasion but this was unusual in the sense that this did not require a birthday or a work project related bribe for IT staff. And it kind of helped make up for the rice (see above).

-laundry day! funner than I remember it being.

-fingerpainting with Will (even more exciting was that the only thing with paint on it at the end of the session were things we planned on painting!)

-story time with two small children, cuddled up on the couch, not related to bedtime.

On tap in the future—serious home organization project work. And hopefully more of the above!
