Retrospective

Thursday night we had the most people ever in our home. We filled our tables with 28 people with friends and family from here in the USA, to friends from China, Vietnam and Japan. So many people and such great conversation. There were little things that could have and did go wrong, but that was ok.  As we get older and I dare not say wiser, we realize that having everything go picture perfect is not a reality.  It is these opportunities to which we learn from and provide for many happy memories. We also wished we could have spent more time with certain people that are closer with us and we want to be closer with, but there was not a time that was spent with anyone that we didn’t cherish and were indeed thankful for.

We had the following at the table: Turkey (2 of them), a simple but very delicious cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, greenbean casserole (it went fast), deviled eggs (with capers!), mandarin orange marshmallow fluff, 6 pies!, and bread, bread, bread.

In regards to bread we made angel biscuits, 2 white bread loaves (pretty simple), and the creme de la creme, a large batch of Gipfelteig which are small Swiss Croissants.  Gipfelteig is a very rich bread, but oh so yummy.  We used a large portion of the leftovers from this for a bread and chocolate pudding that went over well last night at another get together.
