IDOP ‘07 - China
In the days leading up to this Sunday which is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, I plan to make a few posts about countries that are persecuting Christians. May these posts help show you ways to pray in the days leading up to Sunday and that we will be in prayer throughout the day on Sunday.
Today I turn to China and will write a few paragraphs of how awesome God is for the work that has been done in this persecuted country. China is a country very dear to our hearts, and yet it is a country that we’ve never even been to. We pray for China, its people and government, and most importantly the dear individuals who are shedding blood for its underground church.
Let me make emphasis that there are no freedoms and that is why the church, the true church, of China is located underground. China is officially an atheist country and they view religion as “anti-government” establishments and act quickly to remove vocal individuals and place them in prisons, destroy churches or suspected church homes, and use torture and harsh labor camps as a means of breaking the men and women into recanting Christianity and/or digging deeper into who they worship and fellowship with.
They do allow for government sanctioned churches, but the views of these churches distort the gospel.
Let’s lift these brothers and sisters in prayer daily and pray that they will endure hostilities and persecution and will continue to point not to themselves or their government, but to the Lord Jesus Christ as their true power and authority.
