D-Link Routers : bad, bad, bad

Several months ago we received a tip that if we were ever in the market for a new router then pick D-Link. This tip was from a good resourceful techie friend of mine, so when our Linksys Router went out on us, it was only a few days later I was at the local shop to purchase a D-Link router.

We went with the DIR-625 model and it just never did work from the start. One of the things we (“we” meaning me) was attracted to was the 4 hardwired ports, and the capability to run on “N” networks. The problems we had were that it would not create a tunnel to Jessica’s work. Another problem was that it wouldn’t FTP with certain clients. If I needed to FTP some designs or audio files it wouldn’t do it and I had to go directly from PC to cable modem for this. It was painful.

So after many months of unplugging, rebooting, unplugging, rebooting, we decided to dump our D-Link router. It received an appropriate funeral in our garbage container. We went back to the tried and trusted Linksys router, and everything *works* now!!
