If you ask me…

The Man in the Yellow Hat just gives Curious George way more responsibility than is appropriate for a monkey. Just consider some of these tasks that I’ve recently seen delegated to George:

-Go to the store for a dozen donuts/fruit/insert other food item here
-Babysit the pet bunnies/tadpoles/insert other pet here
-Hold a stethoscope (how bad can this be?)
-Run a lemonade stand
-Work at the candy store counter
-Keep people busy while Hat and his friends prepare a surprise party

And it’s no wonder that mishaps ensue. For instance:

-George adds two 0’s to the end of the “1” while drawing donuts to communicate his purchase and ends up buying 1,200 donuts. Or his money flies away and gets caught in freshly poured cement, George ends up using the jackhammer to get it out (super fast dry you know) and the building collapses
-George wants to pet the bunnies (who wouldn’t?) and they all escape. Or gives the tadpoles a swim in the pond and…you get the picture.
-Other patients in the doctor’s office actually think he is a doctor (I think there’s a message here…) and get mad, except the lady whose hiccups he cured.

Honestly, I don’t see how Hat can look at George and say, “Be a good little monkey” with a straight face.
