No…please no

Coughlin will enter the final year of his contract in 2007 at a salary of $3 million, but speculation is that Giants ownership will extend his deal by at least one year to keep the veteran coach from being a lame duck. A source close to Coughlin told ESPN.com on Tuesday that he is “cautiously optimistic” the coach will be retained and that his contract will be extended.

All I can say is: BOOOOO!!!

Update Jan 10th: Seems Steve Serby of the NY Post has been reading our blog.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The sound will come out of the anguished, angry throats of Giant fans who chanted “Fire Coughlin” the last time their team disgraced the uniform and the arena defended so honorably too many years ago by the likes of Lawrence Taylor, Phil Simms and Harry Carson. And even more ominously, it will come from the numbed, sagging throats of too many Giant players who desperately crave to hear the conciliatory, refreshing voice of a new head coach to keep hope alive, Giant players who will have to brace themselves for what will loom as another soap opera season of madness and turmoil on the unhappiest team in the NFL.
