Trader Joe's Update
So I went last Monday…it was even better than I imagined it would be! Top scores: Chocolate Joe-Joes (a better for you equivalent of chocolate stuffed oreos but no hydrogenated anything) Bruschetta topping for Mike (oh yes, he liked it…someone might just be swayed to go despite antagonistic posturing toward TJ in previous posts…) Real live crumpets (ok…maybe live...

simply shocked
Jim Caple has came back down to earth, albeit for a short time I’m sure.

my cellular options
All this has made me decide to never go to Sprint/Nextel and look into AT&T as a viable option if I ever get tired of Verizon (although I can’t see that ever happening).  Please note that iPhone with AT&T has nothing to do with this decision. ;)

packed in
I used to take the PATH train from WTC to Newark. Forget what I said or thought about it being the world’s most craziest commute.

repeal the tax?
In today’s Charlotte business journal there is an article about “Marketing campaigns in works for light-rail fight.” The article goes into detail about how the Charlotte chamber has lined up a P-R firm to handle the pro transit-tax campaign and the battle over funding for the light-rail system here in Charlotte. Furthermore there is talk about there needs to be an aggressive...

the arsenal has arrived
Sometimes we receive uninvited guests to our home to give us reading material about their religion. Today I received a box full of booklets from Desiring God ministries called “For Your Joy.” I pray that God will use these books as we proclaim the truths of the gospel to them.  They are strategically placed in our foyer table close to the front door.  Be praying that the Lord will...

a big trader mess
Hey folks who read our blog (note the use of the word “hey”): Now I know some of you out there are extremely excited about trader joes opening in Charlotte today.  All the way down in South Charlotte, to which I deem another city in and to itself, not to mention a good 30 min to an hour away depending on traffic, yet to some avid fans not that far at all. I just want to say….....

RIP Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto
If anyone has spent significant time around me and our son William will note that I occasionally will refer to him as “Scooter.” A term of affection and endearment and, honestly, an homage to Yankees legend Phil Rizzuto. Today I received word of his death at the age of 89. He won 7 World Series rings with the Yanks, and competed in 9 of them. One of my favorite Scooter quotes: ...

stinkin' hot
It’s 100 degrees outside.  Last week our A/C went out.  This week I’m thankful for a cool home.

wipe out on the diamond
I’m feeling the aches and pains this evening of a day out on the baseball field. It was a crazy score, we were down 10 or so runs, we had men on first and second with 2 outs with me at the plate.  The first ball pitched was a strike, but I took it.  The second pitch was one I thought I could put into the outfield, but weakly grounded to the second baseman.  I threw my bat down and ran as...

Prayer for Korean's in Afganistan
From Josh Harris’ site: - Join our Korean brothers and sisters in asking that above all, God will be honored and glorified through what has already happened and all that will take place over the coming days. Ask for a revival in this land as well as in Korea. (Phil 1:18-21) - Pray for strength, perseverance, and faith for those in captivity. Pray that their faith may not waver. Pray for...
