Book Meme and Other Thoughts (Subtitle: I am Still...
As those of you who’ve read my darling husband’s last post may have noticed, I’ve been slightly absent from the blog. I say slightly because, truly, I have been reading the blog. And on several occasions, I thought about posting something (you didn’t see those?). And at least once, I began a post but got distracted by something else. No telling what, but I figured...
Where in the world is Jessica Sandiego?
My wife has been missing from this blog for over a month now.
shortage of love
This weekend we volunteered time at our local men’s mission here in Charlotte.
If there is just one thing I could say about the men there is that they have been hurt at some point in life. I will have to admit here that we are asked not to speak to the men about the personal stuff in their life. But how can I? I forge ahead and sometimes ask the difficult questions. Overwhelmingly these...
Pray for the Job family

Ikea coming to Charlotte
Our first sofa is from Ikea.
When we moved from Charlotte to Bloomfield, New Jersey in the spring of 2000, our first item of business was to purchase a few pieces of furniture. We didn’t have anything to sit on except for a few dining room chairs with a small little table that was seldom used. We visited the store (Elizabeth, NJ) and was amazed at the prices and the selection. Sure there...
where it comes from
Maybe we were lucky to have Gerald Ford, but Gerald Ford was even luckier to have a nation created by godly folk who came to these shores with a higher vision…that vision didn’t begin with Gerald Ford or Lyndon Johnson. It didn’t even begin with Washington, Adams, or Jefferson, and it survives in spite of anything that happens in the District of Columbia. It came from a Book...

iTunes and sharing
We had a good discussion on Apple’s iTunes last night at small group. We discussed sharing your tunes with others on the network. I made the statement that you can share with up to 5 authorized computers on the home network. Here is Apple’s official take on it (italics is my emphasis):
If your computer is connected to other computers in your home or office using a wired or...

Coughlin will enter the final year of his contract in 2007 at a salary of $3 million, but speculation is that Giants ownership will extend his deal by at least one year to keep the veteran coach from being a lame duck. A source close to Coughlin told ESPN.com on Tuesday that he is “cautiously optimistic” the coach will be retained and that his contract will be extended.

Pray for Dr. Mohler
From his website:
Dr. Mohler’s health has sustained a setback. Over the past 36 hours Dr. Mohler has suffered from unrelenting pain. This unusual degree of pain signaled concern for the attending physicians and prompted additional tests this afternoon. In the past hour these tests have revealed that Dr. Mohler is suffering from pulmonary emboli in both lungs. His condition is quite serious...
Martyr: Julius Palmer
Julius Palmer grew up a Romanist and was a graduate of Oxford College. Soon thereafter was elected as fellow at Magdalene College, Oxford.
It happened, however, during the time Palmer had been away from college, he had made the acquaintance of several leaders of the reformed party, and was so much impressed by their arguments that he began to doubt, himself, whether obedience to Rome was a...
Beautiful Feet
If you have a few minutes, please browse on over to the website of Dean Lewis and read his testimony on how he got involved in missions. Inspiring.

Reflecting on time
Last night we prepared a couple of loaves of bread (Honey Lemon Whole Wheat) to go into the oven this morning. They both should be pretty good because before bedtime they were both rising well above the rim of the pan.
As this was going on, we commented to each other about how fast this past year has gone by. As we were reflecting upon this I was inclined to think that this is how me make it or...
